Autism Spectrum Employment Development Specialist

We are seeking entry-level Employment Development Specialists (EDS) - to develop, secure, and maintain job advancement opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Northern, VA (NOVA). This posting is particularly for an EDS position to work with a caseload of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is a full time (40 hours weekly) non-exempt, hourly rate position starting at $19.24 per hour (around $40,000 annually).
This position will be responsible for:
Conducting intakes, inventories, and assessments to establish employment goals.
Conducting job search and placement activities
Providing job coaching and long-term support services.
Developing positive relationships with businesses, community agencies, other departments, and other vendors.
Providing general case management including detailed report writing.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements Include:
A Bachelor's degree in a Human Services/Social Science area.
1 to 2 years of volunteer, internship, or employment experience working with individuals with disabilities. At least 6 months of experience working directly with young adults/adults with autism spectrum disorder.
A strong interest in advocating for individuals with disabilities to gain and maintain employment and achieve independence.
Job, internship, and/or volunteer development/placement experience.
Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and self-manage a schedule.
Ability to effectively communicate with people of all cultures/backgrounds.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Have own transportation and willingness to drive throughout the Northern Virginia area.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite software.
Preferred Requirements Include:
Bilingual English/Spanish speaking and familiarity with Hispanic/Latino culture, challenges, and preferences.
Experience in marketing/sales.
Knowledge and/or experience in ABA therapy and/or positive behavioral support.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
