9K a year The Collection Specialist preserves the Credit Union's assets by controlling delinquent accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral.
(Hybrid- 3 Days in Oakton Office - VA) Position
Responsibilities:
Communicates with members, primarily via telephone, regarding past due accounts and takes appropriate action to resolve delinquency.
Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations for appropriate action for bringing accounts current and protection of credit union assets when arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged off loans.
Prepares daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports on collection activity for management Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience and Desired Skills:
Minimum six months to two years of similar or related experience.
A high school education or GED.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or can be of a personal or sensitive nature.
Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
